Chaplain Nursing Home Exempt

Position Overview

As a Chaplain at VITAS Healthcare, you will be a critical member of the interdisciplinary team, providing compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, caregivers, and staff during challenging times of illness, loss, and end-of-life transitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive spiritual assessments and provide pastoral care interventions tailored to individual patient and family needs
• Offer pastoral counseling with sensitivity to diverse values, beliefs, and religious orientations
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support holistic patient care
• Demonstrate compassion and skill in addressing spiritual dynamics of illness, loss, and death
• Engage in ongoing professional growth and development

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Master's of Divinity or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited seminary
• Ordination or Commission in pastoral care with endorsement from faith body
• Minimum of 1 unit (400 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from ACPE, NACC, or CAPPE
• Five years of pastoral experience, with two years in a clinical setting preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
