Impact Ministries Associate
PRIMARY OBJECTIVESThe Impact Ministries Associate serves to fulfill the mission of seeing our city transformed by Jesus by mobilizing the church to see justice and empowerment for our neighbors. This is accomplished through establishing vibrant relationships with the assigned City Impact partners while staying informed with current needs and creatively partnering to support them. The associate also builds and manages the Village Church leaders and teams, connecting tangible city impact to their own discipleshipDEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES People Focus: The ability to demonstrate understanding of the needs and concerns of colleagues, volunteers, and attendees. Collaborates well with others and has a servant attitude; equipping the church. Has a high level of compassion for the outcast, marginalized and needy. Team Collaboration: Works cooperatively with others and follows through on assigned tasks. Is able to coordinate with other staff and ministries of Village Church to ensure deliverables are completed on time. Leadership: Able to cast vision and inspire. Identifies, recruits, develops, motivates and oversees volunteer teams and communications site staff.. Communication: Able to use multiple channels or means to communicate information. Keeps leadership informed of site health, progress, and opportunities and effectively communicates verbally as well as in writing to individuals and groups. Relationship Builder: Develops, maintains and strengthens relationships and provides assistance and support where needed. Takes the time to build rapport and establish a common bond, introducing individuals into the ministry streams and ensures they are connected. RESPONSIBILITIES Connect, build, and maintain relationships with City Impact partners. This involves participating in partner events/programs and check-ins with partners. Evaluate partnerships and stay in the know of their programs and needs. Recruits, leads, grows, schedules, and disciples key point leaders for each of the organizations partnered with. Collaborates to develop serving opportunities that are helpful to the mission of the partner and resonate with Village’s vision for discipleship. Manages all administrative needs in coordinating volunteers with partners. Manages any events or initiatives that Village Church is committed to for the specific partners. Plan Partner Features and City Impact Features at the Bell Centre (throughout the year). Consistent communications of stories/calls to action through the stage, lobby presence, social media, newsletters, and personal connections. Facilitate church-wide City Impact data and participation collection Communicates updates on progress, ideas for future initiatives, etc. Attends staff meetings and Surrey staff meetings. Participates in any general Surrey initiatives. Ensures all responsibilities are completed in a purposeful, strategic and focused manner that points people to Jesus. Acts as a servant by inviting, discipling, training and equipping others to serve. Ensures all responsibilities are produced, promoted and lead with a high level of innovation and excellence, honouring God at the highest level. Acts with a sense of ambitious urgency, ensuring all work is completed wisely and impactfully. Time is a gift from God. Maintains an openness to being a learner by committing to continuous spiritual, professional, and self development. Contributes to the best team culture by participating joyfully and working well with peers. Commits to thanking at least one volunteer on a weekly basis. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Standard of Conduct as outlined in the Village Staff Handbook. Volunteers are inspired and motivated by the incarnational lifestyle lived out and modeled by Jesus as they serve different communities. Volunteers grasp the forming nature of serving as a key component of their own discipleship. Community Building teams that not only care about the mission but have cultivated unity, care and love for each other and the body at large. Volunteer teams are healthy in number and commitment; they are equipped, engaged, and appreciated. Volunteer teams are mobilized to see beyond the “duty” of volunteering, to be a genuine community for the unchurched people in the city; for those without a healthy community. Culture Pursues relationships with unchurched people - connecting with them, inviting them to events and Sunday services. Teams are representing the truths of Christianity to the world in insightful, creative, and gracious ways - going into the surrounding culture to bring Jesus to everyone. Must have a strong ability to network and position the right people in the right positions. Must be relational and versatile in managing multiple key leadership relationships. Must be innovative and future thinking when creating volunteer opportunities with partners. Must exude compassion, a passion for the oppressed and the needs of the city.
