PRIMARY OBJECTIVESThe Music Associate’s primary responsibility is to use technical tools to create compelling and engaging worship experiences. Through music directing, track building, and lyric implementation, this position works in collaboration with Worship Leaders, the Music Producer, and other Worship Arts staff to deliver Sunday services, midweek events, and creative projects.DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIESTechnical Expertise: The ability to demonstrate a depth of knowledge and skill as it relates to a technical process or specialty. RESPONSIBILITIES Builds weekly Ableton Live sets, ensuring all tracks are arranged correctly and flow musically, and delivering them in a timely manner. Ensures accuracy of MIDI triggering for lyrics and builds accurate triggers for any new song/arrangement to be used in Ableton Live. Music directs Sunday services at regional Village Church locations. Runs rehearsals for Sunday services, working with and coaching volunteer musicians toward excellence. Works with Music Producer to manage Village’s Ableton Live & ProPresenter master databases. Manages Planning Center song repertoire and ensures all resources are available to assist volunteer musicians’ preparation. Contributes to larger creative projects, as invited to foster a compelling worship ministry at Village Church. Maintains ongoing self-development and one-on-one training with the Music Producer. Participates in Village-wide and regional events. Ensures all responsibilities are completed in a purposeful, strategic and focused manner that points people to Jesus. Acts as a servant by inviting, discipling, training and equipping others to serve. Ensures all responsibilities are produced, promoted and led with a high level of innovation and excellence, honouring God at the highest level. Acts with a sense of ambitious urgency, ensuring all work is completed wisely and impactfully. Time is a gift from God. Maintains an openness to being a learner by committing to continuous spiritual, professional, and self-development. Contributes to the best team culture by participating joyfully and working well with peers. Commits to thanking at least one volunteer on a weekly basis. Fulfills duties required of Village Church members as outlined in the ‘This is Village Church’ course. Pursues a deeper relationship with Christ and greater spiritual growth through prayer, the gospel, and community. Is a disciple. Dependable and servant-hearted; will do any job with joy and passion. High level of musicianship. Proficiency in Ableton Live. Familiarity with ProPresenter & Planning Center.
