The Veritas Residency Program exists to immerse recent college graduates in real, meaningful ministry while helping them grow as disciples, develop practical skills, and gain a healthy and compelling vision for the local church. Residents serve alongside a ministry department, participate in staff culture, engage in theological development, and experience intentional discipleship within a Christ-centered community.

The Family Ministry Resident plays a direct role in helping Veritas make disciples among kids, students, and parents by supporting the vision, systems, and relational ministry of the Family Ministry team.

Essential Job Functions

The primary responsibilities for the Family Ministry Resident revolve around supporting the spiritual development of families, investing in leaders, and strengthening discipleship pathways for kids, students, and parents. Responsibilities include:

Engage relationally with families, helping create environments where parents, kids, and students are discipled toward Jesus.
Support Kids and Youth ministry programming, including Sunday services, mid-week gatherings, and seasonal programs.
Disciple students through small groups, relational ministry, follow-up, and one-on-one meetings.
Assist with volunteer care, including recruiting, training, communication, and appreciation efforts.
Help develop discipleship resources, curriculum tools, parent equipping materials, and leader guides for Family Ministry environments.
Participate in theological development, reading assigned books, engaging in group discussions, and learning alongside other residents.
Attend and contribute to staff culture, including weekly staff meetings and department meetings.
Participate in weekly teacher meetings (as assigned) to grow in communication and gospel-centered teaching/preaching.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities

A growing biblical theology that informs a healthy vision for family discipleship.
Demonstrated love for Jesus, the gospel, and the mission of making disciples.
Ability to build relational trust with kids, students, and parents.
Experience or interest in life-on-life discipleship.
Basic understanding of child or youth development, cross-cultural servanthood, or ministry leadership (or willingness to learn).
Strong organizational skills and ability to assist with large-group events.
Confidence or willingness to grow in teaching, small-group leadership, and communication.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (or upcoming graduation). - Preferred
Prior ministry, student leadership, kids/youth ministry, or cross-cultural experience is preferred but not required.

Residency Program Expectations

Residents can expect:

40-hour per week commitment from mid/late May through April 30 of the following year.
Integration into staff culture, including all-staff meetings and events.
Assigned theological readings and group discussions to support spiritual and ministry growth.
Potential participation in a weekly teacher meeting to develop preaching/teaching skills.
Work within a ministry department (Family Ministry) as a core team member
