Associate Chaplain - Casual

Position Overview

The Associate Staff Chaplain provides compassionate spiritual care in diverse clinical settings, supporting patients and families during their healthcare journey through professional pastoral services and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by assessing spiritual needs and concerns through clinical pastoral conversations, documenting patient responses and care effectiveness (60% of role)
• Participate in on-call rotation, which may include overnight or weekend shifts (20% of role)
• Conduct religious/spiritual rituals and non-pharmacological interventions for patients, families, and interprofessional teams
• Act as a liaison with patient faith groups, community, and cultural resources
• Demonstrate knowledge of medical ethics, including advance care planning, patient rights, and ethics consultations
• Provide care across various settings including hospitals, outpatient areas, extended care facilities, and patient homes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from Association for Clinical Pastoral Education
• Two years of ministry experience, with at least one year in a hospital setting
• Strong pastoral care and counseling skills, particularly in healthcare environments
