Position Overview
As an Associate Staff Chaplain at OhioHealth, you will provide compassionate spiritual care across diverse clinical settings, supporting patients and families during critical moments of their healthcare journey. This part-time, casual role is essential in delivering holistic care that addresses patients' spiritual and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care through clinical pastoral conversations, assessing spiritual needs and documenting patient responses (60% of role)
- Participate in on-call rotations, which may include overnight or weekend shifts (20% of role)
- Perform religious/spiritual rituals and serve as a liaison between patients, families, and faith communities
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical ethics, including advance care planning, patient rights, and ethical consultations
- Provide spiritual care in various settings including hospitals, outpatient areas, extended care facilities, and patient homes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification from the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education
- Two years of ministry experience, with at least one year in a hospital setting
- Strong pastoral care and counseling skills specific to hospital environments
