About the Parish Notre Dame Catholic Church is a vibrant and growing parish community located along the Guadalupe River in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just an hour outside of San Antonio. With over 2,600 registered families, our parish is diverse—culturally, generationally, and economically. Our active Youth Ministry program serves approximately 200 students each week through Edge, Life Teen, and High School Confirmation. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow in ministry under the guidance of a highly experienced Director of Faith Formation, who brings over 17 years of leadership and experience in parish youth ministry.

FLSA Status: Fulltime/Non-Exempt (Hourly)

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry is responsible for leading and overseeing all junior high and high school youth programs, including Edge (Grades 6–8) and Life Teen (Grades 9–12). Rooted in relational ministry, evangelization, and age-appropriate catechesis, this role aims to empower young people as intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Faith Formation and Pastor to support the spiritual and pastoral needs of the parish’s youth.

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry’s primary responsibilities and duties include:

Work Environment & Physical Demands

· Must be able to sit, stand, walk and lift up to 25 lbs.

· Occasional climbing, stopping, or kneeling required

· Some evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight trips are necessary

· Occasional local and out-of-town travel for events and conferences

  • Coordinate and Implement Life Teen (9-12th grade) and Edge (6-8th grade) programming
  • Facilitate retreats, service projects, special events and youth liturgies
  • Plan ongoing summer programming including mission trips, conferences, Bible studies and social gatherings
  • Use media and technology for effective program implementation
  • Maintain digital and physical records of youth participation and attendance
  • Recruit, train and support volunteer Core Teams
  • Ensure all programs and volunteers meet Safe Environment standards
  • Collaborate with the Director of Faith Formation to promote integration of post-Confirmation youth into ongoing ministry
  • Collaborate with youth ministers within Archdiocese and the area Life Teen Contact
  • Provide opportunities for leadership development among youth participants
  • Engage parents and promote family inclusion in youth faith formation
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with staff, parents, and teens via digital and print media
  • Support Director of Faith Formation with bulletin articles, social media and event promotion
  • Encourage parent involvement and family engagement in youth ministry
  • Organize programming on key youth issues (ex. Theology of the Body, substance abuse, mental health awareness)
  • Assist DRE in curriculum review, planning, and implementation of middle and high school faith formation
  • Support parish-wide formation events, parent meetings, and liturgical celebrations
  • Advocate on behalf of young people and their families on public issues (education, health care, safety, etc.)
  • Empower young people by giving them a voice and calling them to responsibility and accountability (education, leadership training, skills building, etc.)
  • Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with an active prayer life
  • Strong leadership, communication, an organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Completion of safe environment training and background check
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) – written and verbal
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in a Catholic school or Parish
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent coursework in Theology, Catechesis, or related field
  • Familiarity with Church teachings, documents, and youth ministry trends and best practices
