Chaplain (Hospice)

Position Overview

Hospice of New Mexico seeks a compassionate Full Time Chaplain to provide spiritual care and support to patients and families in the Albuquerque area. As a critical member of our interdisciplinary team, you will deliver holistic spiritual counseling during end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess spiritual status of patients and families related to terminal illness, communicating findings to the RN Case Manager and interdisciplinary team
• Provide direct spiritual care for all faiths/non-faiths in a holistic, compassionate manner
• Maintain regular communication with Program Director to review client needs and manage potential care challenges
• Coordinate care with hospice staff and external facilities to optimize patient and family support
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
• Initiate and manage communication to ensure comprehensive patient and family care

Required Qualifications

• Graduate degree from an accredited seminary or school of theology
• Minimum two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (four units strongly preferred)
• Two (2) years experience as a healthcare pastor/chaplain
• Hospice experience preferred (one year recommended)
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate support during end-of-life situations
• Proficient with computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR)
• Current CPR certification
