The Athletic Director & PE Teacher at Bethel Christian School plays a critical role in nurturing the physical, spiritual, and personal development of students through athletics and physical education. This dual role is responsible for overseeing the school's athletic program while teaching physical education classes that promote healthy living, sportsmanship, and a Christ-centered approach to competition and fitness.
Position Type: Full-Time
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week
Salary Range: $40,000.00-$43,000.00 Per Year
Key Responsibilities:
Athletic Director Duties:
- Develop and oversee all athletic programs, ensuring alignment with the school’s Christian mission and values.
- Mentor and support coaches, promoting a positive, faith-driven approach to competition and teamwork.
- Coordinate game schedules, practices, and tournaments, maintaining positive relationships with other schools
- Manage athletic budgets, equipment, and facility use, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Foster a Christ-centered athletic culture, emphasizing character, integrity, and servant leadership.
- Organize and lead athletic events, including awards ceremonies, parent meetings, and fundraisers.
- Ensure compliance with league regulations and maintain accurate records of student participation.
- Support student-athletes in balancing academics, faith, and athletic commitments
Physical Education Teacher Duties:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate PE lessons that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and Christian values.
- Teach the fundamentals of physical fitness, motor skills, and healthy living from a faith-based perspective.
- Promote teamwork, cooperation, and respect among students during physical activities.
- Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and track progress.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for all students, encouraging a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.
- Integrate biblical principles into lessons, using sports and fitness as platforms for spiritual growth.
- Maintain equipment and ensure the safety of the gym and outdoor activity spaces.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related fields is highly recommended.
- Personal commitment to a Christ-centered lifestyle and a desire to model Christian values.
- Strong understanding of Bethel Culture and Core Values.
- Previous experience in athletic administration and teaching PE is preferable.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and motivate students and coaches in both athletic and spiritual growth.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of sports safety, injury prevention, and fitness principles.
Working Conditions: This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, including physical activity, and requires the ability to lead, supervise, and inspire students and staff in a variety of athletic settings.
